Genetic Disorder Awarness Bracelet Design

So I'm having a lot of fun with my bracelet idea. It's a DNA strand that wraps around your wrist and the main part of it is the attachable charms. The charms are ribbons for different genetic disorder. In order I drew trisomy 18, cystic fibrosis,VHL,Depression( which I might take out), Sickle Cell, Down Syndrome, Autism, Turner's Syndrome, and Hemophilia.

Steampunk Butterfly Design

This one is my design for the steampunk butterfly made in phototshop. The head is made out of small gears and the body is like a bunch of resses stacked on eachother. The wings don't have much detail which is what I don't like but the designs that are on the wings are just holes to poke through. The feet bend and clip on to enable it to stay in someone's hair.

So I'm thinking of going in three different directions with my project: PacMan, Butterflies, or Disease Awarness.

Eh I guess I'll try to explain it anyway. For Pacman, I thought it'd be cute to make hairpins of, one hairpin of Pacman himself and two other little ones of the ghosts so you could line them up in your hair like how it looks in the game. The butterfly was also a hairpin but, more so in the style of steampunk, meaning it'll include many gears while retaining an oldfashioned like this:

And last but not least Disease Awareness. I'm not yet sure if I want to make it a bracelet version or ring but, I was thinking of a double helix that wraps around your wrist and then charms hang around it symbolizing the different disorders/diseases linked to our genes such as: Sickle cell Anemia (which I had passed down to me), trisomy 21 (down syndrome), and many others.

Shapeways Research

To find what kind of things I'd like to make for my project I went to shapeways. It's a website for people to sell their designs created from things from Maya that are printed out from a 3D printer. Can you say awesome?

 

Anyway I snatched some images that really stood out to me from Shapeways.

I thought these were pretty adorable and at the same time really simple to make.

If you hadn't known this is Spike from the My Little Pony Series. I was like EP it's so adorable, very well made to.

I really love the style of Steampunk. This bird is sort of giving me ideas for a steampunk like hair accessory.

Que fangirly Doctor Who scream. The details for the TARDIS must have took a lot of patience but, it's really cute if you're a Doctor Who geek and functionally wearable.
